Summer Vacation, Time Blocking and Your Creative Mind

Wow, where’d the summer go? Well, if you’re in California like myself, the heat has yet to let up, but the days are getting shorter and many are returning to school. I must admit I did take a mini vacation last week to enjoy the sun in Lake Tahoe. Such a beautiful place and when the heat is on, Lake Tahoe is the place to be!

So now it is time to go back to work, get organized, and if we do it right… we’ll block time in our planners for the things we love. Of course our loved ones and friends, but don’t forget to block time for your hobbies and activities you enjoy. I find if I don’t block the time, my creative projects never get finished. Not only does it bother me when I don’t finish them, but it doesn’t allow me to express my creativity.

Only when I make time to create or dive into my hobbies do I feel truly fulfilled and often enjoy a great sense of accomplishment when I complete a project. Whether it is a greeting card I can send to someone to brighten their day, reorganizing a space in my home, sewing a quilt, or reading a great book… the activity you choose, doesn’t matter as much as the way it can make you feel. Sometimes the only creative outlet I have is setting up my planner for the week ahead. I highly encourage everyone to Block Your Calendar with some time for the activities that fill your heart and replenish your soul.
